Thanks for your elaborate comments/feedback. I agree with you 100%.

In my article, I mentioned this: “ Anyone with the right motivation and passion can learn the foundations of data science. However a background in an analytical discipline such as physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or economics would serve as an added advantage.”

An analytic background provides an advantage, but anyone with “interest” “motivation”, and “curiosity” can learn anything.

So I am not claiming that people coming from backgrounds such as physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or economics, will make the best data scientists. What I am claiming is that a degree in any of these disciplines will provide the necessary background that makes the transition to data science much easier.
